Trans Alp Epic
Even if you’ve not ridden in Chamonix or Alpe d’Huez, you’ll almost certainly have heard of them – they are some of the most famous Mountain destinations in Europe. Huge playgrounds for skiing, mountain-biking and pretty much any other mountain activity you can imagine!
Chamonix is renowned as a world class mountain resort with fantastic natural riding and Alpe d’Huez plays host to the infamous Mega Avalanche. With Chamonix directly north of Alpe d'Huez the two resorts are separated by nearly 300km of the highest mountains in Europe... have you ever wondered what’s in between these two iconic destinations?
Us too… The answer is mind blowing singletrack, well away from the crowds!
This 6 day adventure takes us deep into wild valleys and over high alpine passes on a true backcountry point-to-point journey between the two iconic towns. It really does have everything we want from a two wheeled adventure: breath-taking scenery, remote mountain tracks, flowing woodland trails, technical riverside singletrack, ancient mountain settlements and to top it all off comfortable accommodation and great local food!
The video below shows some of the highlights of the trip, with thanks to 2023 guest Dylan Wynne for the edit!
trip information
This trip ventures into some remote areas and encounters some technical, steep and committing riding. You should be a very experienced rider, used to riding natural mountainous trails with confidence. You do not need to be comfortable or capable of riding “bike park” style features like jumps or drops – these man-made features are not generally found on our trips.
A good quality Enduro style bike (that's something with 150mm+ of travel), high volume beefy tyres (2.3"+) and knee pads are required for this trip.
